JP - 2305349 @ Shinkyo, The Sacred Bridge ( UNESCO WHS )

opened since 1904, 28 meters long and nearly eight meters wide, this beautiful, vermilion-lacquered Shinkyo Bridge sits at the entrance to the Nikko mountains. According to legend, Buddhist monk Shodo, the first head priest of Nikko, asked the mountain deities for help crossing the Daiya River, at which point two snakes appeared and transformed into a bridge. The bridge belongs to Nikko Futarasan-jinja Shrine and was designated as World Heritage site in 1999.

Thank you so much Yukiko for sending me this WHS Postcard with beautiful neat stamps:)
