*from Sonali of India
Jaisalmer Fort
Jaisalmer is also known as The Golden City. The town stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone, crowned by a fort, which contains the palace and several ornate Jain temples. Many of the houses and temples are finely sculptured. It lies in the heart of the Thar Desert and has a population of about 78,000. It is the administrative headquarters of Jaisalmer District. Jaisalmer is named after its founder Rawal Jaisal. Jaisalmer means "the Hill Fort of Jaisal". Jaisalmer is also called as the Golden city of India because the yellow sand gives a yellowish-golden touch to the city & its surrounding area.
Thanks Sonali, u made my day with such a wonderful view postcard:)

ps35 - Thailand

Wat Phra Kaew or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (officially known as Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram) is regarded as the most important Buddhist temple in Thailand. Located in the historic centre of Bangkok, within the grounds of the Grand Palace, it enshrines Phra Kaew Morakot (the Emerald Buddha), the highly revered Buddha image meticulously carved from a single block of jade. The Emerald Buddha (Phra Putta Maha Mani Ratana Patimakorn) is a Buddha image in the meditating position in the style of the Lanna school of the north, dating from the 15th century AD.
Raised high on a series of platforms, no one is allowed near the Buddha except HM the King. A seasonal cloak, changed three times a year to correspond to the summer, winter, and rainy season covers the statue. A very important ritual, the changing of the robes is performed only by the King to bring good fortune to the country during each season. The temple is beautifully decorated and has a great sense of peace about it.

Ps34 - Thailand

Sukhothai is one of the northern provinces (changwat) of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are (from north clockwise) Phrae, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Kamphaeng Phet, Tak and Lampang. Sukhothai can be translated as Dawn of Happiness.
Thailand Floating Makets
In olden days, most communities of Thailand were formed alongside rivers. Many criss-crossing rivers and canals served as means of communication. Such ways of life of the riverside communities, especially in the Chao Phraya River Basin brought to the rise of several floating markets. Floating markets had become a token of the communities in the central plain of Thailand for a long time. This form of market gained peak popularity in the Ayutthaya Period (1350-1767), thanks to the surrounding canals which suited for trading locations.

Its Time to Re-Imagine Ourselves

Happy New Year to all my Dearest friends..

With the end of this day, we mark not only the end of a year, but the beginning of a new one. Our counting of time is entirely arbitrary, so the end of this day has nothing intrinsically special to offer us. But the symbolism of the day is powerful and potentially very wholesome, for it raises in our imaginations’ far-reaching thoughts about new possibilities.

As Pope John Paul II urged upon us repeatedly during his Pontificate, this is an opportunity to re-imagine ourselves and the way we live together in this world. It’s an opportunity to listen anew to the Good News of Jesus, to take it in more deeply than ever before, and to ask ourselves, “Why not?”

Why settle for so little when the Lord offers us so much? Why settle for lives that are half empty? Why let our days be darkened by fears and by unresolved conflicts with those we ought to love and enjoy?

Now is the acceptable time. Now is the time to take the initiative in seeking reconciliation within our selves and with God and those around us. Let us become peacemakers and build a new world that knows peace.

Ps 31 - Nova Scotia

*from Danielle :) thanks for such a nice aerial view!
Dartmouth Nova Scotia
The former City of Dartmouth is located on Canada's east coast and is a part of the Halifax Regional Municipality. Being a very old city (founded in the year 1750) Dartmouth is chalk-full of history and charm. Called the 'City of Lakes', Dartmouth also boasts some of the most beautiful scenery in Nova Scotia, a Canadian province well-known for it's beauty.

Ps 30 - Potala Palace

*from Wang Jia Yi - China
Potala Palace
Perched upon Marpo Ri hill, 130 meters above the Lhasa valley, the Potala Palace rises a further 170 meters and is the greatest monumental structure in all of Tibet. Early legends concerning the rocky hill tell of a sacred cave, considered to be the dwelling place of the Bodhisattva Chenresi (Avilokiteshvara), that was used as a meditation retreat by Emperor Songtsen Gampo in the seventh century AD. In 637 Songtsen Gampo built a palace on the hill. This structure stood until the seventeenth century, when it was incorporated into the foundations of the greater buildings still standing today.
Thanks a lot Wang Jia Yi..:)

Ps29 - The Temple Of Heaven / The Echo Wall

*from Francoise of Beijing China
The Temple of Heaven (also Tiantan Park) is the grandest cult architecture complex in the world and a masterpiece of the Chinese people created in ancient times. It covers 2,700,000 square meters (667 acres), which is nearly four times the area of the Forbidden City. The temple was constructed in 1420 during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and was enlarged during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Emperors of the two dynasties used to worship the heaven and pray for rich harvests, as the feudal emperors thought they were the son of the heaven.
This courtyard is encircled by a round wall with a length of 193 meters (633 feet). The wall is the famous 'Echo Wall'. If one whispers into the hall, another person who is standing at the wall with a distance 100 to 200 meters (328-656 feet) can hear the speaker clearly....wow!
Thanks so much Francoise:)

Ps28 - Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal
An ode to Beauty..
A sonnet of Love..

No other monument in the world has evoked more sighs than the Taj Mahal. Because never again will cold perfection and passionate love be seen together in such spellbinding form.

*built in memory of his queen Mumtaz Mahal, by the Mughal emperior Shah Jahan in the 17th century, the Taj Mahal is one of the wonders of the world. Amongst India’s 27 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, it is crowning achievement of Mughal architecture and perhaps, the finest tribute to love anywhere on earth.

It occupies a "unique position" as one of the holiest sites and as "the greatest of all churches of Christendom".
St. Peter's is famous as a place of pilgrimage, for its liturgical functions and for its historical associations. The Colosseum
The greatest amphitheatre of the antiquity - was built in Rome, Italy, about 1920 years ago. It is considered an architectural and engineering wonder, and remains as a standing proof of both the grandeur and the cruelty of the Roman world. After the splendour of imperial times, the Colosseum was abandoned, and in turn it became a fortress for the medieval clans of the city, a source of building materials, a picturesque scenery for painters, a place of Christian worship.
