The Resurrection Church is a signature sight of Foros, located on the Red Cliff, 412 meters above sea level. It was built to commemorate the rescue of the Russian Emperor Alexander III in a railway station wreck near Kharkov in 1888. All the cars of the train were almost completely destroyed, except the car in which the Emperor and his family traveled. Many churches were built to commemorate this miracle all around Russia.
